Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I grab a coffee or lunch near the Southport venue during breaks?
There’s no shortage of choices within a few minutes’ walk. Southport is dotted with cafes and eateries along Scarborough Street and around the Australia Fair shopping centre, plus plenty of quick options throughout the CBD. If you’d rather stretch your legs in the fresh air, the Broadwater Parklands are only a short walk away in Southport. Grabbing a bite between sessions is easy.
What's a good spot for breaks and lunch around Southport?
You’ve got plenty within walking distance of the venue. Southport features cafes and food outlets along Scarborough Street and near the Australia Fair shopping centre, along with quick bites throughout the CBD. Fancy some fresh air on your break? The Broadwater Parklands sit just down the road in Southport. You won’t struggle to find a coffee or a feed between classes.
Which employers and industries around the Gold Coast rely on White Card holders?
The Gold Coast runs one of Queensland’s busiest construction markets, so White Cards are always in demand. High-rise apartment and hotel builders around Southport, Surfers Paradise and Labrador, civil and infrastructure crews, fit-out and trade subcontractors, and labour hire companies all insist on it before anyone sets foot on site. Whether you’re moving into carpentry, electrical, plumbing, scaffolding or general labouring around Ashmore and Southport, the CPCWHS1001 White Card gets you in the door.
How does the Gold Coast venue stack up against your other Queensland locations?
The course itself, the $85 price and the White Card you walk away with are all the same no matter which of our Queensland venues you choose – it just comes down to what’s closest for you. If Southport isn’t the handiest, we also run sessions at Logan, Brisbane and Cannon Hill. Every one of them delivers the same nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
Can you deliver group or on-site White Card training across the Gold Coast?
Absolutely. If you’ve got a crew to get certified around Southport, Surfers Paradise, Labrador or anywhere across the Gold Coast, we can set up group bookings and, for bigger numbers, run the training on-site at your own workplace. It’s a popular choice for builders, labour hire firms and civil contractors wanting to train a whole team in one go. Phone 1300 029 132 to sort out dates and numbers.
What's fuelling the demand for White Cards on the Gold Coast right now?
The Gold Coast is still one of South East Queensland’s strongest growth corridors, with continuing high-rise and mixed-use projects around Southport and along the light rail route, major transport and infrastructure upgrades, and a steady stream of works connected to the region’s build-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. All that activity keeps a constant flow of new workers needing their White Card before they can begin.
What does Queensland require when it comes to White Cards?
In Queensland, anyone doing construction work has to finish general construction induction training – the CPCWHS1001 White Card course – before they start on site. That requirement comes from the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld) and is overseen by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WorkSafe QLD). Our training ticks those boxes, and the card you receive is recognised right across Australia.
Does my White Card ever expire?
There’s no set expiry date printed on a White Card, but here’s the catch worth knowing: if you go two years or more without doing any construction work, your card lapses and you’ll have to sit the training again. Keep working in construction within any two-year window and your card stays valid everywhere in Australia.
Will I get my Statement of Attainment on the day, and is a USI needed?
Yes – as soon as you’ve passed the course you’ll get your Statement of Attainment the same day, so you can get to work right away. You will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) for the certificate to be issued. It’s free and only takes a couple of minutes to set up at usi.gov.au – just bring it with you or create one before your class.
I only want the White Card - have I found the right course?
You have. CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry – is precisely the course everyone refers to as the “White Card”. That’s exactly what this is, and it’s all you need to work on a construction site in Queensland. It’s just $85 here on the Gold Coast, with your nationally recognised Statement of Attainment handed over the same day. Got questions? Give us a call on 1300 029 132.
